Ruto: Supreme Court has vindicated IEBC on the conduct of the election
President-Elect William Ruto has said that the Supreme Court decision on Monday had vindicated the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission confirming that it adhered to the Constitution and conducted its work in the right manner.
“I salute the judges of the Supreme Court who have conducted their duties with ultmost fidelity to the constitution. They listend to all parties, considered all issues, applied the law and demonstrated their learning, impartiality and patriotism,” Ruto said.
Ruto was speaking in the Deputy President’s official residence in Karen where he was flanked by other leaders including his successor Rigathi Gachagua. The two pleadged to work toegther with all Kenyans to make the country better.
The president-elect said that he was offering an olive branch to his competitors to join up with the Kenya Kwanza government and work to the betterment of the country.
“We are not enmies, we are Kenyans,” Ruto said.
The DP thanked his family, his Kenya Kwanza partners and Kenyans who had agreed to support his campaign agenda saying that his election had opened opportunities for all Kenyans regardless of their backgrounds.
“I have gone through many difficult situations but I am here to thank God that the people of Kenya have made a decision and this has been confirmed by the Judiciary,” Ruto said.
Gachagua said that an ordinary Kenya whose mother and father are not known is the president of Kenya. He added that though the Kenya Kwanza government would inherit a country burdened by debt and unemplyment, they were ready to work from the first day in office.
“We will support you (Ruto) to ensure that you lead the transformation of this country. We have nothing against anyone and we will work with everyone,” Gachagua said.
