Ruto: Africa must take charge of its development
President Williams Ruto has called on Africa to take control of its own development, emphasizing the importance of implementing and fully funding Vision 2063.
During a meeting with the Africa Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) CEO Nardos Bekele-Thomas at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto stated that the youth of Africa must be fully involved in the process, as they possess the drive, energy, and skills necessary for transformative progress.
“These are Africa’s greatest resource; we must be particular about their education and training,” President Ruto said.
Adding, “The future of our continent lies in the hands of our youth and we must invest in them to ensure a bright future for Africa.”
The President also expressed Kenya’s support for AUDA and the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD), calling for the agency to work closely with other organizations to speed up the implementation of Vision 2063.
“It is vital that we work together as a continent to achieve our shared goals of sustainable development and prosperity for all,” President Ruto said.
“We must seize the opportunity to shape our own future and take charge of our own development.”
This sentiment was echoed by AUDA-NEPAD CEO Nardos BEKELE-THOMAS, who stated, “We must work together to empower the youth and build a brighter future for Africa. The Africa Union Development Agency is committed to supporting the continent’s development efforts and we look forward to working closely with President Ruto and the Kenyan government to make this a reality.”
