Interviews for George Kinoti’s replacement begin today
From this morning, the National Police Service Commission will start interviewing 10 candidates seeking to take over at as the Director at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The interviews are set to take place at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete with each candidate having 45 minutes in an exercise set to start at 8.45am and end at 4.15pm.
According to NPS, only 10 of the 253 applicants sailed through the preliminary round of vetting.
Speaking ahead of the interviews, NPSC chairperson Eliud Kinuthia said, “We have received memoranda from the public on the shortlisted candidates but on the exact interview process, we shall be able to communicate to the public when it’s over owing to the sensitivity of the security information that may come to our knowledge.”
Clearances from EACC, KRA and HELB are a few of the qualifications that those who made the shortlist must possess.
Just like any typical job application, senior police officers are also obliged to submit clearances from the same DCI.
The 10 individuals eyeing the top detective job are Ireri Kamwende, (Director of Planning at DCI headquarters), Eliud Lagat (Director of Reforms at DCI), Mwangi Wanderi (Head of DCI Railways Command), Munga Nyale (Principal Assistant to Inspector General) and Amin Ibrahim (Head of Internal Affairs Unit).
Esther Seroney the Bomet County police commander, Walumoli Barasa, David Birech, Michael Wiso, and Paul Ndambuki are some of the others.
According to Kinuthia, all the 10 listed candidates are serving police officers with indepth knowledge of investigations and policing.
The position became vacant after George Kinoti resigned, paving way for the PSC to declare a vacancy.
